Known as the sister science of yoga, Ayurveda is the ancient Indian science of wellbeing. Together, the two practices help to build the foundation for a more balanced state of being and a better quality of life. We are slowly beginning the transition into summer, or what Ayurveda knows as Pitta season. Pitta is one of the three doshas, and is mostly made up of fire. When in balance, Pitta is the driving force behind determination and problem-solving. If imbalanced, however, excessive Pitta can lead to things like burnout and frustration. During the Preparing for Pitta Season workshop, we will go over an introduction to Ayurveda and its principles, the three doshas and their qualities, and what entering Pitta season means for our bodies. We’ll also talk about how to discover your unique dosha and how to balance Pitta to keep its fire from burning too intensely during the hot summer months. We will then finish the workshop with a flow full of Pitta-pacifying poses! Bring your mat, some water, and something to write with!
